No outside food, beverages, or alcohol will be permitted onto the grounds. What to do?

I'm really interested in going to the Run For Your Life 5k Obstacle Course which has an Apocalypse after party and camping. Unfortunately it says in more than one place that "No outside food, beverages, or alcohol will be permitted onto the grounds." This really sucks.

So do I just sneak my food in anyway or perhaps sit in my car and eat it cold? I have a sensitive tummy for reals and cheats always end up hurting me and everyone around me. The vendor food may be delicious food but most likely it will be full of stuff that will hurt me. I've sent them a query about it as well. What should I do?

Edit: If you think I should sneak food in, what are you suggestions for good sneakable Paleo foods?

@Talldog I hear where you're coming from and I agree to an extent. However, what good is that rule if it makes the participants stomach upset with possible nausea or worse? If she was celiac or had a severe allergy of some sort you would not advise her to come with no food to an athletic event and possibly end up on the ER from the wheat/soy/veggie oil infested food at the canteen...

These rules are usually in place, because they wouldn't make a profit without the food/beverage sales. It's easy to think "I paid for admission, so I should be able to bring in whatever I want," but you should also consider that the price of admission would have been higher if not for the contribution from the food sales to the bottom line. I don't have a good answer to the original person's dilemma, but sneaking in food doesn't seem fair to the promoter who, after all, has placed their own money at risk to put on the event.

(The benefit to them is that you don't need much to get a decent amount of fat and calories... aka small and compact and easy to sneak in!)

Nuts, dried fruit, coconut, coconut oil in a blender or food processor till it all sticks together quite well. Pat into a small pan, let "set" in the fridge (the oil with harden), and cut off small chunks. I use cashews, walnuts, dates, dried cranberries, pecans, coconut, coconut oil, and sesame seeds.

They won't search you, they will probably stop coolers though. Put a little thermal insulated lunchbox into a backpack. Fill with Mayo jar filled with coconut oil, Beef jerky, Hardboiled eggs, precooked bacon, carrot sticks.

Didn't you ever sneak shooters in your pants to a concert? Anyway...here is a list of foods I recommend you sneak in...put them in cosmetic bar soap boxes and tampon boxes. They won't look inside there if they're searching bags. (Boy I sound crafty.)

  • Jerky or LARA and Tanka bars
  • Sardines will be too smelly
  • Fruit
  • celery and almond butter
  • salami and cheese (use a few ice cubes in a plastic baggie)
  • sea snax

Are you sure you can't even bring your own water? I personally wouldn't go anywhere where they don't allow you to bring your own water. The only motivation to ban it is greed and I don't think it speaks well to any organization that forces people to buy bottled water instead of just bringing their own. Have we not learned the lesson of Woodstock '99?

I was in ?? similar situation not so long ago, and proceeded to inform the organization that I am allergic to gluten and have a number of other food allergies ( what a coincidence they all coincide with Paleo). This got some annoyed looks, and I joked that I got my genes from scraping the barrel. They allowed me to bring my own stuff. However, someone apparently protested about it. Because it didn't take long before a stranger walked up to me and asked me what afflictions I had. I told him I suffer from a human condition. He thought I was blowing him off, while I was just being honest.

I'm going to guess that there will be various barbequed meats you could eat. Probably not 100% paleo, but probably close enough. Supplement with some sneaked-in veggies, nuts, homemade paleo power bars, etc.

I think these rules are usually in place to avoid people bringing in glass bottles full of alcohol. How long will you be there? Can you just fill up with food beforehand and not eat while there?
