Rapid Weight Loss...Neurotoxicity?

Just wondering here....

If someone went on a paleo low cal diet and lost significant weight (15#s in 3 weeks) is a possible complication the release of neurotoxic viruses/bacteria? Could it be sudden onset?

I ask because I got some crazy shit going on! After losing 15#s in 3 weeks I woke up in the middle of the night with the right side of my face numb and tingling. No loss of motor skills! I had a bad case of chills, no fever, mild diarrhea and phlegm deep in my esophagus. Every time I would eat I would spit up a lot of phlegm. I know this is gross, but I even had one diarrhea that was pure mucous! What's weird is that tingling that was on one side of the face left and then migrated to the other side... For a few days I had a discharge out of one eye and an odd sensation (probably inflammation) in the corner of the left eye socket.

Anyway, ALL of that subsided after a few days, although I don't feel like my lung capacity is what it was before this happened. What I am left with is fatigue and brain fog. The back and top of my scalp tingles and I got a dull mild headache (for days now).... WBC was normal, CAT scan turned out negative for tumors. ER doc just said I had a tension headache, told me to change pillows, and gave me some Flexeril.. (lol?)

Anyone ever heard/had this?

Here you will see your TC rise, plt count can go up and the serotonin dopamine balance thrown off.......you also lose intracellular glutathione......Just come on my site for the details.

Excellent. Thanks Dr. K. I got a lot of reading to do. I can definitely agree with the dehydration issue as well. For some reason I wasn't absorbing water too well earlier in the day. (watery stools). And as far as pregnenolone steal syndrome...I'm sure it wasn't helping that I was 20h fasting daily as well... Right on the mark as usual. :)

Thanks RK that's good info. I did suspect crazy inflammation was the root cause because that is exactly what it felt like. It has definetly been evening out over the last couple of days so you're on the mark with that too. Thanks!

I'm glad I don't have a parasitic flat worm, Matt. :) I actually do agree with you though, a few of these things were just coincidences. Guess life is like that sometimes.

It's a fluke, not a parasitic flatworm, but a happenstance.

Monte I answered this on the thread too. Sounds like extreme dehydration caused an acute pregnenolone steal.......and affected BDNF and NGF........Pretty common on a paleo diet change over especially if the diet is loaded with a ton of starchy carbs. Pops you out of PPP and keeps you in ATP-CP and TCA constantly. EMF 4 essentially done way to fast........

I have had stuff like this happen while losing weight on paleo ... one time I ran a 102+ fever for a month! Doc could find nothing wrong. Sometimes when you shock your body with something it can respond with inflammation in bizarre ways. A few weeks ago I had a chiropractic procedure done on my shoulder, and the next day I woke up with massive inflammation in my gums! Weird.

It should even out over time. You may want to visit a holistic doc if you have one and ask for recs for supplements to support you during this transitional time. One thing that was recommended for me was Quercetin.

Also, I can say that when my body is losing weight, I ALWAYS have crazy poo. That's actually how I know it's coming off. I think in part it is all the waste your body is creating getting rid of that stuff, although the change in diet may also factor in. It also should even out over time. Just make sure you are drinking plenty of water to help your body flush the waste out and not get dehydrated.

EDIT: I should also mention that if it continues, you may want to look into IBS. Sometimes the rapid change in diet can cause IBS like symptoms to flare up (like mucus in the stool). Here is a good resource: http://www.eat-real-food-paleodietitian.com/paleo-diet-and-ibs.html

That sounds like some pretty crazy scary s*it. I go with James, were you going 0 carb? If so it sounds like your body protested big time!

Were you going 0 carb? If so, could be low carb flu/keto flu. Haven't heard of the nerve stuff before though.
