How long should I wait to workout after eating?

It seems like everyone on this site fasts before a workout, but I feel awful if I wait too long after my meal... like my head starts hurting and I feel like I need to lie down. My usual workout is running a couple miles and lifting weights. Also, would you recommend protein, fats, carbs, or a combination for a pre-workout lunch?

I must be one of the few people who don't work out fasted. My workouts, mostly weight training, are usually in the morning. Doing a workout fasted doesn't work out well for me so I eat a good breakfast of protein and fat and finish it about an hour before I leave for the gym. This gives me enough time to not feel uncomfortable from having too much food in my stomach and morning eating usually stimulates a BM which would otherwise cause discomfort while exercising.

If you go by a carb diet work out approach you should have a meal 1,5-2 hours before workout with complex carbs. Since going Paleo I still usually eat around 1-5-2 hours before training just to get my snack in. I don't felle comfortable having a full stomach when working out. I don't have any problems working out on an empty stomach either wich is nice when having morgning work outs.

i am totally random with my workouts and never have a certain time of the day i do them. before meals/after meals- just whenever. if i'm doing a lot of up and down movements like burpees, bear walks, mt climbers, then i try to wait a few hours. i hate the feeling of food in my belly and the burps if i workout too soon after. if it's an arm workout or leg workout, then i can do that like 10-15 minutes after eating and feel fine.

i don't run anymore, but when i used to, i felt better doing it hours after a meal or before having a meal. i might of had a light snack like a banana or a few medjool dates before hand, but that's it.
