pre-work out shake for optimal post work-out anabolic effect?

I just heard Tim Ferriss talk about perfectly timing his post-work out shake recovery properly by having it before his work out depending on particular work outs. He says, "during the window within which I had maximal insulin sensivity and best Glut-4 receptors..."
