Have any women gotten really skinny from Paleo??

Hey! So Im looking to get smaller, Im 24 and 160 cm short lol... At the moment Im finding it really hard to lose my thighs.. Sure Paleo has helped me become really firm, but Im still struggling to lose a dress size or 2. I have a small build, and have just reached a size 6 but still looking chubby in the leg area. Id like to have slimmer legs! One more size to go!! Any skinny chicks eating paleo, or is this not a road I should be on. Ive read on here that size 12 is healthy for a paleo woman :o but I definitely do not want to be a 12, no offense.

Restricting lettuce is not good advice for a woman trying to lose weight. A big salad (with other nutrient dense add-ons, protein, etc) can be one of the best ways to get a filling meal, quickly and easily.

As someone who's also done classical Russian ballet, I have to disagree. Ballet (any sort of dance, really) builds major muscle. Let's be honest here, the reason professional ballet dancers are so skinny is because they systematically starve themselves. It was the reason I quit.

I hate to say it but... You're wrong Desmond, if a girl naturally has a predisposition to have larger legs or gain muscle, even the light weight will add size to the legs. I listened to all those fitness gurus saying "women won't gain muscle size from lifting. They don't have enough testosterone." Not true! It didn't take me long to gain a lot of muscle for my first bikini competition. Now I am wondering how to take some of the size off!

I have to say that you have an awesome waist-to-hip ratio. I am the same height as you with almost the same measurements: 35-27-38 and I feel hot! I love having a small waist compared to the size of my butt and yours is even smaller! What I most fear about aging is losing my round ass so I do a lot of working out to make sure it stays built up. I know everyone is different, but I wanted to offer my point of view. Forget about Grandma, do you feel sexy?

I didn't lose the weight on paleo, but I can maintain size 00-02 very easily between 117 and 130 lbs at 5'4.5", good health, normal periods and everything, still a kind of high body fat percentage though, last time I got checked at a gym my lean body mass was like 88 lbs, so the rest is fat, but I like where it is.

I was a paleo eater for years without any intent of becoming "skinny" until this past year. I'm still going strong on the paleo bandwagon and am also quite thin now.

In other words, paleo is not in itself a weight loss diet, it's a way of eating. You need to decide what your health, fitness and other goals are and then decide which forums and communities you want help from.

In all honesty, though, you can lose weight on the all-banana diet or the all-potato diet or the all-Oreo diet. Everyone's mileage on the paleo diet seems to vary, so you may want to do more reading up on the subject -- at the very least, brace yourself for the fact that there are very rarely any quick fixes.

Paleo worked best for me as a long-term and sustainable way of eating, not something you do for a month to get you into a particular dress size.

This may not help, since it is not a solution to "lose your thighs", but when I started Paleo I had the same wish to get skinny and lose my big thighs, and over time I have become more appreciative of my legs since I lift heavy things now. I am able to deadlift heavy and use my legs for power, and that made me embrace them!

The same came from just eating paleo by just accepting that this is how our bodies want us to be, and that when you take advantage of that and get strong, it is a good feeling!

So, I guess, as many of the other posts are saying, paleo only goes as far to make you how you are supposed to be, and anything past that must come from more modern means.

I am 173 cm, 23 years old, and a size 2/4 depending on brand. I maintain this well on paleo but I do not eat as much as I want(I love food and would pig out if I could and not gain lol). I eat around 1500-1700 calories a day. I don't count any more but I did until I could eat in that window without counting. On days that I workout, I eat what I burn in addition to the daily calories. My weight stays around 56-58 kilos pretty easily with this way of eating.

Paleo did make me "skinny" - especially from other people's perspectives. There are always areas we as women think are issues. I wish that little bit of fat below my belly button would disappear, but its not visible through clothes so I'm happy as is. I think we get a terribly distorted view of our bodies, especially when we're trying to lose weight. I started at 185lbs (I'm only 5'3!) and some days I wake up and I feel that big still. I'm not, and sometimes it helps to see pictures of myself that others have taken. I get an idea of what other people see, and when that happened the first time, I immediately thought, "wow. That IS skinny. I think I need to bump up my weight lifting routine and bulk myself up."

I'm sure your thighs are something only you notice. There are so many women who are overweight who would kill for your body. Try not to criticize yourself so much, and I promise you'll become happier. Besides, for reproductive reasons, we women DO need some fat on our bodies, whether its the pooch below the belly button or on our thighs. Evolution wants it there, and that's a good enough reason for me.

Wolfram|Alpha says your ideal body weight is 124lbs

If you are trying to dip below that, then you have to do more than paleo.
Weightlifting and sprints seem to help with body composition. It is probably not a good idea to calorie restrict, but if you do, make sure you get enough protein/nutrition. Nutrient dense foods like liver rather than high volume/low nutrition crap like lettuce.

All that said, I suspect you are supposed to have those thighs. Evolutionary theory would suggest a body composition predisposed to reproduction and not the emaciated androgyny brought to you via fashion shows.

Do leg workouts! Nothing too intense or crazy, but do some squats, lunges, leg press/extension/curl. If you don't like working out for long periods of time, split these into 2 gym sessions per week.

Your legs have the most muscle so the best way to burn fat is by working out your legs! Afraid of having scary muscular legs? Don't be. Just do light weights and you will get "toned" instead of "muscular".

Also I have decided, while still sticking to paleo rules, maybe cutting down on some of the fat and cutting all dairy from my diet (which Ive been a bit naughty with). More veges, less fruits. It's a lot of hard work yeah, but Im really determined to reach my desired body. What are your intakes on intermittent fasting?

On any diet you need to create a calorie deficit to lose weight. 3500 burned calories will equate to one pound lost. You can create this deficit by eating less and exercising. Do not go below 1200 net calories (food-exercise=net) on any given day as your body will think you're starving and go into survival mode slowing your metabolism. Also maybe look into some weight training or resistance training to tone your thighs. Good luck

Not to rain on your parade, but if you have an hourglass or pear shape, you aren't going to "lose your thighs". I can only lose mine by being on my death bed. I'm two sizes smaller on top than on the bottom. And even then it depends on the manufacturer, so I have no idea what size I actually am. I think you should ask yourself why that little number matters so much to you. Are you on this Earth to live a healthy, productive, happy, fulfilling life or to conform to someone else's idea of what's "attractive"? It took me nearly getting an ED and ruining my health to realize that being skinnier doesn't always mean being healthier. I can now carry my kid and grocery bags up three flights of stairs when back in my (skinnier) CW days I could barely carry myself. To me, the answer is clear: I'll take bigger thighs and better health.

From what I've seen, there are 3 ways to get skinny

1) genetics 2) do a lot of running or cycling (like loads. Long distance running. Good for you? no) 3) starve

Some women get skinny on paleo, without starving, but I think they're genetically inclined to be slim. A lot of skinny women just are really obsessive about not eating a lot.

I am 5'1" (154cm), 115lbs, 35-25-38 and feel WIDE and DUMPY. 38" hips, in my eyes, don't look good on a short frame. However, I've tried to diet and by body doesn't want to be any thinner. It's in my genes to have a fair bit of muscle, DD boobs, a ghetto booty and a little pouch of fat on my stomach. I hated the pouch and couldn't diet it away, so in the end I got laser lipo. (The final straw was my tactless grandmother telling me, after I'd just lost 10lbs and was wearing a very hourglass 50s vintage dress, that I had a fat stomach)

My sister, by contrast, has really slim arms, waist and upper body that I would die for but she carries fat on her bump and thighs. She is really quite tiny but still has the flab on her lower body.

Tall and skinny is not the only definition of beauty, despite of the messages constantly bombarded at us girls. At some point, get off the constant weight loss bandwagon and accept the way nature made you (or at least in my case, accept that dieting won't change certain areas and take extreme action!)

If you really want to lose more weight then 1) eliminate all dairy 2) reduce calories and do whatever you need to do to prevent hunger. For me it's high protein and loads of veggies. 3) do sprints and HIIT workouts

I'm 5'3 and was perpetually at around 140lbs (with thunder thighs), until I went Paleo -without dairy. I dropped to a size 0/2. BUT when I first started Primal I only dropped 10lbs.

This is because the first time I ate dairy and my protein portions where always too big. Also, I was scared of fat. And I went spinning 3X a week.

The 2nd time I didn't eat dairy, ate more fat, kept protein to a deck of cards size and hiked every morning on an empty stomach. I have never felt better than I do now. The hiking made me much fitter than the spinning and trimmed my legs down.

Yeah, as a short girl myself I get the sentiment about not wanting to be a size 12! The fat acceptance and "new normal" is really out of hand. Women actually do look better slender. What you have is people who can't bother to do the work to get slender pushing bigger as ideal so that they don't feel bad (smh).

Anyway, I think you should google a book called The Thigh Gap Hack (http://www.thighgaphack.com) - don't let the name deter you. You don't have to want a thigh gap, but just skinnier thighs.

It purports to give every trick in the book (literally) for getting rid of stubborn thigh and leg fat. I am currently waiting with bated breath for it

to get lean you need to eat paleo at a slight caloric deficit for a prolonged period of time. You need to accurately determine your body fat % and your lean body mass and find the proper macro nutrients you need per day for maintenance. There are many calculators out there to do this. Then you need to lower those macros so you are at a 300-500 calorie per day deficit and sustain this until your BF % reaches your desired level. This is not easily done and requires great determination and self discipline. I am currently on a cut diet like I just described and have gone from 220 lbs to 190 in the last 3 months.

Try ballet type workouts, they will give you slender, strong legs if you do barre consistently and with proper technique. (Experience: I've done classical Russian ballet since I was 5.)

As someone who's also done classical Russian ballet, I have to disagree. Ballet (any sort of dance, really) builds major muscle. Let's be honest here, the reason professional ballet dancers are so skinny is because they systematically starve themselves. It was the reason I quit.
