I stopped taking the stuff about a year ago because I doubt I need it now that I'm eaing Paleo/HG. But does anyone have some science that shows whether or not it helps gain muscle with a weight lifting regimen? I've found one study that states pretty clearly there are no advantages but the "protein drink" was a mix of "whey protein, amino acids, creatine, and carbohydrate" - which doesn't really control for "whey protein" (or creatine for that matter).

I've always had luck with it. Plus, whey protein isolate is 99% lactose-free, which makes it a good option for me.
However, these days, I prefer to eat a pound of lean beef and pound and a half of potato, PWO.
But, I think they're both viable options, depending on how you react to dairy. You said stopped taking it a year ago. Have you seen any muscle loss?
