Ketosis vs. Keto adaption

A little background: Female. 34 years old. Paleo 1 year. Strict paleo since January . No weight loss. Went VLC in Febuary. Use Ketostix to check for ketosis. Tend to do weekdays VLC and then more carbs on the weekends but this is just because I am undisciplined once the weekend arrives.

So here is my question: Does the magical weight loss happen once you are keto-adapted? I understand this to happen after you have been in ketosis for many weeks and your body switches to being a fat burner. I am not losing any weight and would like to.

If you want to lose weight on ketosis, you have to be really consistent. It takes a few weeks for your body to adapt, so that means when you add in more carbs during a "cheat," then your body has to get adapted to ketosis again. So, if you're gonna do VLC, you gotta STAY VLC.

i have been vlc for the better part of six months and have not had significant weight loss; some recomp, but certainly nothing magical. you still need to manage calorie intake to be in deficit even while eating vlc.
