Wonders about the whole 30!!

I have been reading a lot about the "Whole 30" and my question is to the people who have already tried it. Did you lose serious weight? And how much were you actually eating? I'm just a little nervous that if I eat too much protein, it will turn to fat. :/

The Zone Diet, but weighed and measured and modified accordingly.

Ain't gonna happen. Biology doesn't work that way. Even if protein was easily convertible into fat, your body has such good feedback mechanisms on protein that it's almost impossible to eat too much of it. You will get to a point where you just can't eat any more (unlike carbs which you can keep eating and eating past the point where they've made you sick).

IMO, the amount of protein you eat is relative. I can't eat as much as 1 gram per pound of bodyweight because it messes with my stomach. I also know (from doing Whole30s and attending their seminar) that Dallas and Melissa recommend eating no more than a palm sized amount of protein with each meal.

Good luck!

Whole 30 is NOT a weight loss program. Yes, you will likely loose weight, but it's more about resetting the way you think and feel about food.

We completed a Whole30 in January, 2011. If you vary your diet, include LOTS of fresh veggies, a little fruit and good quality protein you will not turn into a fatty.

Most of your plate should be vegetables. We try to have at least two veggies sides with our protein. We lost weight, but would have lost more if we would have restricted fruits/nuts. All of the nutrients in fruits are also available in vegetables without all of the sugar.

We each lost 15 lbs and have continued losing with continuing paleo the past 7 months. We screw up occasionally with beer (we live in Portland, back up off my beer cave people,) corn and dairy.

Total weight loss for me (Kylie) is 23 lbs, the bigger change has been my body composition.
