Ive been lurking here for about of week and have found a lot of useful information on this website. Anyway I have lost 9 lbs in my first two weeks doing Paleo and am very encouraged, but also interested in continuing my weight loss at a steady pace. Are there any techniques you guys reccomend for continued weight loss? What is a typical amount of weight loss. To help you answer my questions better id like to note that I am 26, male, 5 '7, 188 (was 197... yikes)

Thanks in Advance

Sounds like whatever you've been doing is working. Just don't get discouraged if it slows down after the first few weeks. Stick to the plan and it will pick back up again.

Failing that, I just say try to became as healthy as possible. All sorts of hormones and other biological happenings tie into our metabolism and when they're awry due to unhealthy food that's when our metabolism slows down and we get hungrier. So instead of the general weight-loss mentality of "lose as much weight as I can right now" it would be a good idea to read a lot about what is healthy and strive to be as healthy as possible. Most of the paleo authors and leaders have quite a bit to say about this whole thing. Read until your eyes bleed :)

You don't lose weight to get healthy, you get healthy to lose weight.

Keep up that good work! As Stabby said it will slow down. It varies from person to person. I lost 12 the first week (water), and continue to lose 1-2 pounds a week. Watch eating fruit, because of the sugar. Drink plenty of water. Get a good nights sleep, at least 7 hours. Get lots of fresh air and exercise. And yes, the most important thing do NOT eat hormone laden, genetically modified, processed food!

congratulations! the first thing to note right off the bat (so you don't get discouraged) is that - if you've been doing it low-carb - it's likely that much of your initial weight loss was water. this is good and normal, but once you are at baseline in that regard, your perceived weight loss is gonna slow down somewhat -- maybe a lot. it's ok though! just stay focused on eating REAL FOOD, because that's what it's all about. you should get to where you ought to be if you do that. (that's where my money is, at least)

take it easy! good luck!
