Losing fat, gaining muscle?

Creeping up on one month paleo, although yes, I have had my share of cheats [once, sometimes two times a week]. Been active in muay thai 2-3 times a week. I've felt difference in the way I fit my clothes, a little loser here and there - but not a huge difference in general. The scale is what throws me off. One morning it says a 9 lb loss, the next morning 5, and some days, 3. Am I getting some fat loss and gaining muscle, or is nothing really happening? What would you suggest to see better results?

I would suggest throwing away your scale and getting a tape measure. A scale measures you as a whole (bone, fat, muscle, water, undigested food, etc.) and will never tell you if you have lost fat and/or gained muscle.

Your water weight can vary a few pounds, but weigh yourself several times in a row to make sure you get the same results. It took me a while to realize that my old scale would vary a couple of pounds either way in back to back weighings.

Body fat percentage is key.
