Is the first week the real test for withdraw symptoms?

I am now into day 7 of full, strict paleo. I feel FANTASTIC. I just want to shout it out to everyone.

I haven't had any headaches or withdraw symptoms which strikes me as odd considering I am a recovering sugar addict and have the fat tummy to show for it. I gave up pop and coffee creamer. Well everything processed...

I guess I am just shocked at how great I feel. Down six pounds, the bloating is gone, I am feeling more energy, the clothes are fitting looser. It's amazing to me. So when I read the stories about people feeling shaky with flu like symptoms I feel sorry for them.

I hope that I am past any potential for withdraw symptoms. In your experiences, am I in the green here? Is there any likeliness things would go south (symptom-wise) providing I keep on this path?

P.S. I've gone low carb in the past before but never ever gave up sugar free things or diet soda. Or cheese. Just amazing to me the difference.

Yes, I'm thinking that is the case as well. Still feeling really good, and I'm hopeful I can keep the momentum going. Just today I realized I hadn't stopped to eat lunch by 1:30... Previously I would be looking at the clock waiting, starving at 11:00. That is crazy to me. But in a good way. :)

If people have a hard time - headaches, foggy brain, lethargy like you've been hit by a truck or other flu-type symptons - it's usually in the first three days and lasts sometimes up to a week. Not everybody will go through it, because we are all unique snowflakes. I suspect you are better adapted being low carb previously.

I was in the same boat you are in in week one. I still am LOVING life and its week 6! It took me a little bit to balance out some things after week 1, but not anything that was life changing. Overall I still love Paleo and will be doing this for a while.

Week 3 seemed to be my hurdle, not sure why. I also feel great - I'm still learning to navigate around my sugar cravings when I get them.

Congrats! I am in my 4th month and am loving it. I think my first week went without a hitch as well, but when I got to my second week, after the excitement wore off, that was the hard part (thinking about the foods I couldnt have anymore). But I dont remember having cravings at all either! Cool stuff! Keep it up! :)
