How to kick those last few pounds?

Hi everyone! I've done paleo off and on all school year, and have lost about 20lbs from it (my equivalent of the 'freshman 15'). While I'm feeling a lot better now, I still want to get rid of the last 5, 10 tops, pounds. I went back on paleo a few weeks ago and lost a bit, but then I seemed to plateau. I ended up breaking paleo last night with lots of sugar and other carbs, and while I know that wasn't great, I heard that cheat days can actually help get off of plateaus. Is this true; do you think that's what I needed? Any other suggestions?

I don't think a cheat day is the end of the world, but if it helps get off a plateau, my guess would be that it's in the wrong direction. You might try posting what you eat (when on paleo), what you do for exercise, how much you sleep, etc. That will probably make for more useful responses to your question.

If it's just to get those last 5-10 off, switch to lean meats and vegetables (may use very small amounts of coconut oil or olive for cooking/salads) for three weeks, and allowing yourself 20-30g carbs post workout every 3-5days. Eat a high protein, low carb, and low fat diet.

Chicken, salmon, tuna, lean red meat (1x per week), nonfat Greek yogurt, low fat cottage cheese (under 5g carbs per 1/2 cup), protein powder mixed with unsweetened almond milk, salad greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus, spinach.

Eat 20-30g protein 6x per day.

After 3 weeks you should have dropped a significant amount of body fat and retained your precious muscle mass. By then you'll be able to indulge in a wider variety of meats, vegetables, and fruit.

As for exercise do high intensity interval training 2-5x per week and lift heavy weights 4x per week.

I'm obviously not a doctor, but that is just what I would do if I were in your position and wanting to lose the last 5-10lbs.
