Hack My PCOS Weight Loss Non-Food List?

Hi All!

I know that Paleo is the best for curing PCOS - now looking for a list of already Paleo-safe foods that may not be so great for losing weight with PCOS. For instance, hearing lots of warnings about fruit in general, but I don't know if berries are still ok to eat daily... if I should completely stay away from high in sugar bananas, etc...

Just wondering about any foods I should be staying away from for maximum weight-loss effect, even though they may be safe to eat on a maintenance lifestyle. :) Thanks, everyone!

Hey I only have dairy as a special treat. I even try to steady clear of butter. Mai ly because it metabolizes I into sugars making a blood spike. At least on me. I may have some cheese over a dish or may add butter if it's the best option. But I love coconut milk and oil and nothing beats drying up EVERYTHING in Bacon fat lol. I personally can't stand almond milk but that's just me and I get refined coco it oil cause the unrefined makes everything taste like coconuts!

I just read somewhere today that peppers might be too sweet for us to eat! Oy! This is also what I want to know - the specific fruits and veggies that will make us hold on to the fat. Maybe I will just go by the Low GI list - thanks for that advice - it helps a ton! I also love the idea of pairing fruit w/ protein.

Jenniflower, thank you - exactly what I'm looking for! Do you do any dairy? I am still in the process of converting my diet to grass-fed meat and dairy/eggs, etc... I'm still eating conventional, so I know that will help when I get my Omega 3/6 ratios more even... but I don't know, even if it is the good stuff if it would be better if I tried not to eat it. :) I would love to have a yogurt now and then!

oh, no - I guess I just meant that I was looking to identify the foods that I had the lowest chance of losing weight with PCOS - like the highest sugar fruits, starchiest veggies, etc. Not necessarily a list already out there - I had no idea they existed! Which ones do you mean? :)

I have PCOS and with it I've learned comes insulin resistance. So basically if you want to cure PCOS you need to lose the weight and to do so you need to keep your blood glucose as even as possible, No spikes!

Think of foods that have high sugar, high carbs, or a high GI. Those are the ones you need to avoid. So yes that means pretty much o ly meat and veg with some nuts. Leave out the starchy veg like white potatoes. And maybe have sweet potatoes or butternut squash once maybe twice a week.

Always pair a Carb with a protein. So if you're going to eat an apple have some chicken. Trying not to rely on nuts as your protein source only as condiments.

While you're healing stay away from most fruits. Especially melons and bananas. I personally try to only eat berries and only when I have a super sweet tooth. But again I pair it with protein.

Pale cheats like honey and maple syrup are much better than sugar but will cause a huge spike making your body hold onto the weight so steer clear. I personally think of it as my ideal diet and my socializing diet. It's not about restricting yourself so much you can't hang out with friends and have a yummy fruit salad. Usually we get in the state we are because we're forging on the fruit and a paleo banana pumpkin muffin at home. Sure we're eating "paleo" but because we're insulin resistant we need to watch are intake a bit more.

*sent from phone sorry for silly mistakes.

Berries are a great source of fruit. Consider eating a large breakfast of protein and fat. You might be intrested in: http://jackkruse.com/my-leptin-prescription/ as well.

In general take it easy on liquid calories. Eating fat is good but is easy to overdo as well so you will want to not over-consume these items as well...

Also take it easy on the nuts nad nut butters.
