Can someone hack my daily meal plan?

Hello, I am on Paleo as a life style change as it makes my pain much better. I would also like to lose about 20 lbs. I am on a budget so I am working with what I have. Can someone look into these daily foods I eat and tell me if I am on the right track?

Breakfast: Smoothie with 1/2 can of coconut milk, frozen strawberries, frozen blueberrys, 1 raw egg.

snack: apple and sunflower seeds,

1 large sweet potato w/ butter

snack: medium avocado.

I am not worried about dinner, which is always meat and veg. Just concerned the sweet potatoes will make me not lose weight. But the are so nutritional dense (and cheap and easy to bring to work)

More protein earlier in the day, and not just from protein powder if you can help it. Add some lean meat or a couple hard-boiled or scrambled eggs to your breakfast.

Since you're aiming for weight-loss, consider cutting back the coconut milk and seeds- yes, they are full of fat, but they also contain a lot of calories. Between the fruit in the smoothie, the apple and seeds, sweet potato, and avocado, you're getting enough carbs- I would aim to fill your diet with green veggies and more lean meat.

I would go to two eggs in the morning.

A high proteen diet like paleo will make you loose weight at first. Just like Atkins did. So will a low fat low proteen raw vegan diet at first. Then your body adapts and starts storing what you need or what it thinks you need. It does this by storing fat or making you good at hyper storing of fat not a hyper burner which is what most Americans want to be.

I would up the Protein with eggs, fish or meat (dinner for breakfast maybe?). Cheep sources of proteen are tuna, eggs and cheese/milk.

If you want to loose weight cheaply try adding home sprouting. Almost any bean you can get at the grocery store as a cooking bean will spout if they have high turn over in the beans. No cracked beans will sprout they have to be whole. Easy way to do that is open a bag of beans put the bag into a large bowl and cover with water put the whole thing in the fridge and leave till you get home. Drain in a strainer and dump the beans back in the bowl top off with water keep repeating till you see sprouts 2-5 days. Great low fat high fiber soup is sprouted lentils (sprout only till you see the little tail on the spout) cooked with carrots onions and any meat... add a whole grain bread and you boost the protein

Apples have pectin in them and they help with weight loss. Sweet potato has betacarateen in a usable form your body needs. Just dont add any fat to them and they are still low cal. It would not have been unreasonable for an ancient to bake a potato or sweet potato in coals of a fire and eat it. Nor would it have been odd to eat an apple in season right off the tree.

A cheep way to loose weight and follow paleo is to eat in season. You can also try if you have the space to grow some greens or micro greens (just use reg seeds and harvest early) to up your nutrition on the cheep. Also if you know how foraging for some foods is an option in some areas.

Since you have a weightloss goal of 20lbs, limit the sweet potato to once a week and replace it with a green veggie(s). And if you're still hungry, just eat more veggies. :)

I would also suggest to take the fruit out of the smoothie and use veggies like cucumber, spinach, kale, and carrots instead. Once you've reached your goal weight, you can slowly start adding fruit back in. You'd probably still lose some weight with the fruit, but the extra sugar in them isn't helping you lose weight very quickly. And I'm with Eric, 2 eggs. Since you're not eating protein at lunch, you want to get as much as you can in breakfast and dinner. Best to get some protein in all 3 meals though.

I second the two eggs. I would be more concerned with the apple than the sweet potato, myself. I can't really eat any fruit and lose weight. Maybe try replacing it with almond butter. I like these almond butter packets from Justin's Nut Butters.
