Gaining weight on Paleo

Trying to gain weight whilst maintaing a strict paleo diet has proven very tricky. Been drinking a lot of Banana and Avocado smoothies however, avocados are deffo expensive in the mersey. Is there anything else I could try on, trying to stay away from grains but it seems it might be the only option.

As grains go, white rice isn't so bad (imho) and definitely easy to eat a lot of.

You could try with nuts, high in fats, and dried fruits like dates, raisins and prunes (although the best nuts are also the most expensive ones...). They are the most nutrition dense and adhere to paleo. Beware that they could bring up your hunger a lot. Coconut milk shouldn't be as expensive as virgin oil and may assist in your shakes.

I guess you don't touch dairy by the statement of 'strict paleo' but if you do, cheese is also one of the most calorie dense foods. Also Whey concentrate or even better a weight gainer can push you up, mix a spoon or two into your shakes and you're gone.

Mixing fats and carbs in the same meals should aid in weight gain. But I'd be wary that just gaining weight does not have to be a good thing. Puting on just fat may actually be a bad idea. But if you're doing plenty of strength training and are a hard gainer, then I guess it would be ok.

Pumpkin seeds, I make my own roasted pumpkins. They are very calorie dense. Coconut milk, its cheap.
