Paleo city guides - a web directory of regional paleo resources?

So I spend a lot of time on PH, and I can't help but notice how many questions are about resources in folks' local areas or in places they are traveling to.

You know, it wouldn't be hard to put together a website devoted to paleo around the world; folks could write in with restaurant, grocery shopping, activity, etc. suggestions...it could hook people up with meet-up groups and people in their area. It would help with traveling cavefolks, etc.

What do y'all think? Would you be interested in helping with a hyper-collaborative project like this? Writing up a guide to your city or region? Contributing to hosting costs? Ideas for worthwhile things to include?

EDITED TO ADD: I fiddle around with WordPress for a living, but of course people with more advanced design, etc. skills are welcome as all heck to chime in.

Actually, Todd, the ball bearings for this idea first started moving after our little comment discussion about restaurants. :)

Can I suggest as a dualtrack we could lobby app people like urbanspoon.com to include paleo as a search option in the same way that vegan is there...

I too have been wishing for this kind of resource. I would love to zoom in on a map and see at a glance and click for more info and reviews (some which you mentioned):

  • Meat shares
  • CSAs
  • Fitness groups/Crossfit locations/informal gatherings
  • Paleo-friendly doctors, specialists, and pharmacies
  • Attractions (Museums, playgrounds, state parks, hiking trails, etc.)
  • Paleo-friendly restaurants

...and that's pretty much only the beginning. :) Ohhh, the possibilities.

I wonder if a wiki format might not make the most sense...

Hey guys, I just finished the alpha version of paleo directory, which aims at collecting all the local resources that are difficult to uncover when you switch to a paleo lifestyle. It's still an alpha version, so glitches are expected, but you can take a look at www.healthylivingtribes.com to have a look at it, and of course to try it and let me what you think!

I hope this will be useful for the community: I made it myself as a side project, as after several relocations, I really wished something like that existed :-(

Any progress on this? I have no skills in the necessary fields, but I would LOVE a resource like that!
