Water retention helpppp

I have a HUGE problem with water retention. I know this because my arms and legs receive indents in the skin from even small pressure. For example, I will rest my purse on my knees and get marks, I will sit on grass and have grass-shaped indents in my legs for hours, or plastic bags will leave cutting indents on my wrists for like a whole afternoon.

I am a 21 year old female, been following paleo for the past 6 months. During 1st week or 2 I lost a ton of water weight (from 115lbs to 105lbs approx) then my weight started to creep up over the following weeks then months. During the summer I strayed from Paleo and was drinking quite a lot of alcohol.

I don't know why my body is holding on to excess water. I have cut out sodium by not eating processed foods or using table salt. I use pink himalyan sea-salt but only a little - I don't know if more or less is better for water retention?

I don't eat any dairy or gluten (obviously) or eggs. I have tried cutting out nightshades/nuts and various elements to see what in my diet could be causing this but I can't figure it out.

Anyone have any ideas on weird reasons or remedies for water retention? Google has been giving me the standard responses of eat less sodium, drink more water, exercise. Oh and by the way I drink a crazy amount of water, i'm not sure if it's too much but i'm thirsty all the time, I can't go half an hour without some water. I'm sure this is related but I dont know how.

There's a "normal" range of indentation and then there's edema.

quick googling gave me this

http://www.selfgrowth.com/articles/the-5-signs-you-are-holding-water-and-3-fast-solutions-anyone-can-follow

not drinking enough water(not very intuitive), eating too much salty food, menstration, pregnancy, inactivity, toxins, medication/hormones,histamines.

basically exercize, adequate amount of water, clean diet = fix

edit: maybe try low histamine diet? or playing around with more/less salt, drinking water more or less, if your drinking a lot of water even though you dont need it maybe thats a side effect of another problem?(causing this problem)

you could try increasing your calories and exercising (assuming u dont eat enough/are not) and make sure your not pregnant ..... cant think of anything else.

Wait, so why do you think you are holding excess water? Indents on your skin from hard things are normal.
