5 gallon plastic "bpa free" water bottle..Safe?

I admit im a water snob and only drink purified water. Living in SF we have good tap water coming from the sierra nevada's but the whole flouride/chloramine thing they add to city water still scares me.

I have a plastic bottle from these guys http://www.newwaveenviro.com/products/5-gallon-bpa-free-bulk-water-bottle. (I have a glass one as well but its too heavy to be hauling up and down stairs multiple times a week). Whole foods near by has a reverse osmosis system for cheap that i fill it for cheap every few days.

Even if its BPA free is it still safe? Reusable for how long? Should I just drink tap with like a brita filter?

I keep hearing all this bad info on how plastic disrupts hormones in the body, I cant help but think im supposed to be avoiding plastics all together. Thoughts?
