organic apple cider vinegar - Strange white floating puck?

Hi !

I noticed my bottle of BRAAG organic apple cider vinegar today has a white puck like thing inside floating.............

i did not buy it like this , and i really have no idea what it is..

any one?

i did guess it was the mother but i saw it initially as strands and didnt touch the bottle for a month or so then saw this puck and was fairly confused. Good to confirm!! thank you!

It's the vinegar "mother"--perfectly normal. It says that you have real cultured vinegar--you got your money's worth.

This is essentially a "SCOBY" (Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast") just like is used to make Kombucha, but the vinegar "mother" is what makes the vinegar. You can even use this "mother" to make a new batch of vinegar by placing the mother in a clean jar with fruit juice or wine.

You can scoop or strain it out if you prefer. It always reminds me of an alien life-form, but I think it's pretty interesting, actually.
