OK I tried finding this via Google and other blog posts but I have not found an answer or solution so here it goes: Last year I tried a ketogenic diet and everything is great! Except that it started to burn when I would pee. (Sorry TMI?) If I drank a gallon of water a day the problem subsided but then I had to pee hourly. About 2 months in I forgot to drink my daily gallon and the pain was so bad I ran out to buy a box of donuts immediately. I ate it to my face and immediately felt relief. Fast forward to today: I've been doing keto diet for a week, same problem. 5'8" female ~140lbs >40g carbs lots of eggs cream cheese butter olive oil pork BACON!! chicken ground beef a little bone broth soup coconut almond cup things and some veg lettuce cucumber pepper zucchini ect. Also kraut kombucha and critical care pro biotic. Can you hack it? Not UTI BC goes away immediately after eating carbs. Pron not the inflamed bladder as some blogs suggested because things like coffee and cheese don't give me problems when eating more carbs. Side note: Do you guys think >100g carbs a day still will help with inflammation problems and/or have same theoretical anti aging effects as ketosis?

You can't say "not a UTI" until you have your urine cultured and it has been ruled out.  The fact that it seems to go away when you eat sugary crap is a red herring.

Quit playing around--get a urine culture before you blow out your kidneys.

If the urine culture is negative, then go for healthier carbs and test to see if you are in ketosis or not.  That's the only way to know what carb level works for you.

So I have a hidden UTI that magically shows itself when I drop crabs then goes in to hiding when the carbs go up?

OK I'm glad I listened to you. Just took a UTI test that's say I have high leukocytes And low nitrite which isn't a positive but isn't a negative. Per webMD Ishould take cranberry pills and baki g soda which I had been planning to do in case too much acidity was the problem.

Any onion on low carb for aging vs ketosis?

High white blood cell count with low nitrites typically means that it is not a UTI, but rather a bladder infection.  You need to be seen by a doctor and be put on antibiotics.

also, if you did the dip-stick measurement -- you need to have a real lab test.

UGGGHHHH :(

any idea why I wouldn't notice this AT ALL until going low low carb?

Think ketosis will be doable once infection clears?

Its certainly possible that your diet is causing your urine to be more acidic, and you are sensitive to that.  Or that you have interstitial cystitis and diet sets it off.  Or that you are dehydrated and that causes pain.  But firs you need a good quality culture.
