Mass Amounts of Veggies vs. Starch

So I usually eat mass amounts of non-starchy veggies, along with lowish-fat protein. (I have a little trouble putting more fat in my diet).

I was wondering about whether it's better to eat starchy veggies to put less stress on my digestive system and up my calorie intake.

I'm a 5'1 106 lb girl, aiming to maintain my weight.

Thanks!

Nah, it's mostly that I'm allergic to dairy, don't have access to high-quality oils, and don't have a way to cook with high heat... I just found a pressure cooker, so I can do stews and things now, but I have trouble finding ways to incorporate fat that don't involve stir-frying.

I hope your trouble putting more fat in your diet isn't because you're afraid it'll make you fat. Fat will not make you fat. I eat very high fat and I'm 5'1 and 100. Also it promotes satiety so you don't need masses of veg to feel full.

It's a matter of finding the veggies that your system likes best, and supplementing with the right amount of starchy stuff for you.

I did a high FODMAPs elimination and added back in. From this list:

I can eat all the SAFE fruits and veggies, and most of the CAREFUL ones (except broccoli and grapes, unless I take enzymes). And none of the AVOID ones. It was especially hard eliminating apples and onions, but those 2 were my biggest offenders!

Chris Kresser has an excellent article on this very topic:

I for one cannot tolerate a lot of green leafy veg, so these days most of my veg consists of starch in the form of sweet potatoes and fried plantains.

Great question, I was wondering the same thing!

And here I was averaging 1-2 carrots, 1-2 celery stalks, 3 spears asparagus, 5 florets of broccoli, 1 capsicum, 1-2 tomatoes, 1 cucumber, a handful of kale, and a variety of eggplant/zucchini/parsnips/pumpkin in smaller quantities a day!
