Forced to eat a vegetarian diet for 2 weeks

So I went to this 2 week retreat where vegetarian food was served. I managed to avoid soy and gluten and ate non-paleo stuff such as white rice, milk, oats, lentils, beans, sprouts, tahini and some gluten-free treats but I felt undernourished and really crappy, got acne breakouts (possibly from all the butter, milk and chocolate whey powder), major cravings for meat/fish/eggs and a majorly upset stomach the last few days.

If you got to make your own menu and eggs were disallowed, what would you use as staples? What would you avoid? How would you make sure to still have a wholesome diet and still feel well as someone who usually eats a paleo diet and what would you supplement with?

By the way, vegans are responsible for food related deaths too, they are just oblivious or dishonest about it. You're lying to yourself if you think no animal was harmed in bringing you your food.

Avocados and fresh coconut would be high on the list.

Don't listen to roy. Eat all the veggies and fruit they have, cordain style. Skip the cheap grains, legumes and dairy. Fruits, veggies, nuts and seeds. Now that I think of it, you gotta get your fat calories from somewhere, eat the dairy for the time being. To minimize the damage from the dairy considering it's inorganic and pasteurized, eat it only in one meal during each day. The less you eat the better off you are. But for the most part, fruits, veggies, nuts, non glutenous starches like sweet potatoes, white potatoes.

Here's an answer from a non-paleo long term vegan: You shouldn't have been substiting with butter, milk and whey powder. There's no need for them, they are junk food. Eat vegetables.

Remember that green leafy vegetables have a protein to calorie ratio of over 3 times that of beef, so the amount protein is never a concern if you eat enough leafy greens. The amount of lyseine may be a factor if you really want to optimise protein intake, eat legumes. Here's a good reference:

Of course, I'm not sure if your version of 'paleo' bans legumes. If it does, then trying to do vegetarian 'paleo' is probably a non-starter, unless you wish to spend your life optimising lysine intake from low lysine foods.

Personally I'm more than happy to enjoy the increased life-expectancy of my vegan diet, without considering paleo. And of course, being vegan, I'm not directly responsible for the wholly avoidable death and suffering of innocents.
