A vegetarian passenger aboard a Continental Airlines flight apparently was so disgusted by the meal she was served that she threw her tray at a flight attendant, the New York Post reports.

"She said she was a vegetarian and she didn't like what she was being served," an airline official told the newspaper. "So she threw the food tray ??? and the food ??? at the attendant."

The flight last Friday, which originated in the Dominican Republic, was bound for Newark Liberty International Airport. The woman reportedly had ordered a special meal but it was not vegetarian, the newspaper reported.

Port Authority officers met the plane at the gate when it landed in Newark at 3:58 p.m., but the flight attendant declined to press charges

airlines do offer gluten free meals - but they are nothing to write home about. What I got was some kind of corn bread and some bland, tasteless boiled chicken

There must be at least one or two incredibly offensive stereotypes you missed. Perhaps you should try harder.

Yikes! Super inflammatory remarks Garrett -I personally don't like painting whole groups of people with the same brush - I think this is why you are getting such negative reaction from the PH readers here

I'm trying to imagine some of the more passionate paleos ordering a paleo meal and getting a sandwich and cheetos instead. Let the throwing commence.

This reflects on human stupidness, not vegetarianism.

If she were a vegan I suppose I could attribute her behavior to B12 deprivation. Aside from that, just standard human stupidity and self-centeredness. Paleo folks can get up to some pretty egregious attitudes and behavior too. The only magic pill that cures it is being willing to see beyond your own narrow self-interests and recognize that other people are human too, and equally worthy of respect.

I know a vegetarian who will just be like "no thanks, I don't like to eat meat" and that would be that. I think it is just that the nutbags are extra vocal and volatile and make the news much more frequently. There is no point in making a big deal about every instance of vegetarians being dumb in the name of vegetarianism when it isn't always like that.

If anything we should just stfu about it because this sort of thing makes the psychologically afflicted ones even more messed up.

Hitler was a vegetarian.

Peta vegan fanatics have proven time and again their violent natures.

Hindus, Sikhs are vegetarian. Many of them are violent, terrorists, murderers, wife beaters that practice honour killing.

As for the passenger described above, poor brain function due to the unhealthy diet. Then again, consider the so called food in hospitals and on airline flights. It may be a natural and overdue reaction?

Always have some beef jerky on hand for special occasions. Like the next time you are seated next to a militant vegan on a flight. Or better yet, steak tartare. Be sure to offer them some. If they attack you, suing them could be a great financial opportunity.
