@VB- I don't normally watch them. Not because I don' think they deserve to be watched, just an opportunity cost thing. But either way, it's ALWAYS important to be aware of opposing views/opinions. If I were a liberal (I'm not), that doesn't mean I shouldn't be aware of more conservative opposing arguments. That's just close-minded, which is one reason people are uneducated.

@ Albert- our livers produce more cholesterol that we could possibly eat in a day. It might because they eat foods that downregulate their production of pregnenalone.

BTW you also have the social/spiritual aspects of this, from someone who left apart the terror of eating animals and that is so considerate to others it's not that strange that they have a more kindred nature and thus also this observed femininity, seems to go well hand in hand and correlates a lot. If you were a more visceral person from the start you would never consider veganism... And if you pair both things at once... it's not that surprising if you think about it.

I'm just speculating but I think it could certainly be a link between their diet and the behavioural thing. They eat almost no cholesterol. Remember it is needed for all the hormonal cascade to take place: cholesterol + Vit A => pregnenolone => DHEA => testosterone if this is affected by the diet and you get less androgenic hormones, then I guess you could get milder personality? It would be like castration at the dietary level! Just a theory.

Indeed, AxialGentleman, I do hope that that (or something like it) is the case. A predisposition for effemininity leading to veganism is a better case for the individual than vice versa. That is, it seems healthier to be naturally effeminate and thus predisposed to veganism than to be hormonally, or by some other mechanism, switched to effeminism via veganism.

perhaps it's that american culture already tells them that no red-blooded "real man" would forgo meat, and so more masculine men are more likely to be driven away from the diet, or at least to keep it a secret.

I think it's hilarious how tip-toey he was. It's a common piece of bro-science. "Don't jack off for awhile and your testosterone levels might go up". True or not, someone needs to tell him that you can say things like "semen" or "penis" on the internet and your mom won't find out.

I'm gonna link together the asexual vegan video and PaleoInABox's "Idiot" music video and point out...why are these people so damned effeminate? I don't currently wish to put a value judgement on femininity and masculinity, but it just seems so common that vegans...well...they don't behave like your hardass dad ever would after a long day's work. Without trying to forage into the depths of what a man "should" behave like, I do believe that men such as these represent a standard deviation or two from what would be considered "normal male behavior".

Is their diet affecting this? Or is it that effeminate men are drawn to vegan? Something else? Or am I just seeing something that's not there?

Pretty much all vegan diet videos are hilarious. I usually youtube such tags as "where do vegans get their protein from", "vegan bodybuilders", "go raw vegan", "healthy vegan lifestyle" and others. I especially love scientific vegan topics, like "man is a herbivore" thing. So educational!
