There have been vegans before b12 supplementation...Buddhists and Hindus in India would get their vitamin B12 by growing their own vegetables and not washing them before eating them, and the microscopic fungi and insect eggs provided vitamin B12, but when they moved to England, where food was carefully washed prior to eating, they would develop vitamin B12 deficiency anemia.

Vegans only do well when they have stores of B12 (that's one function of the liver) to fall back on. One need only look at what happens when vegans push their silly diet on newborns. With no B12 stores to fall back on, they fail to thrive and occasionally die.

SAD people can not absorb B12, it is fairly well proven. but there is no proof that people with healthy guts can not. What I really want to know is if the Hunza are deficient in B12. Ditto for K2.
