I second this. Your doctor appears to look at numbers and get scared without understanding what the numbers represent. Anyone that automatically prescribes statins merely because LDL is >200 or so probably doesn't understand cholesterol. I say it bluntly, you have a cholesterol profile to be envious of.

Your Total to HDL is 2.4 (251/104), that's awesome. If you're worried I would check out some of Chris Masterjohn's work,

If you don't want to sift through it you can listen to his podcasts with Chris Kresser

Explains how we've come to this point of being cholesterol-phobes and the different theories of cholesterol and heart disease: http://chriskresser.com/the-healthy-skeptic-podcast-episode-11

Talks about what a healthy range of cholesterol is: http://chriskresser.com/episode-16-chris-masterjohn-on-cholesterol-heart-disease-part-2

Talks about what to do if you actually do have high cholesterol: http://chriskresser.com/chris-masterjohn-on-cholesterol-and-heart-disease-part-3

Unless you have some other reason to worry about it, those blood numbers look great - agree with wildwabbit.

Bad? Looks spectacular to me. Very high HDL == very good. Low triglycerides. LDL may appear high but it is solidly pattern A which makes it a non-issue. Only maybe concern might be Lp(a) though in light of the other numbers its probably ok, something to ask the doc about.

But isn't it true that LP (a) Cholesterol is an inherited coronary risk factor that is the most toxic component of the blood? Is it also true that it almost impossible to lower? Mine is high (13.0 mg/dL range <10).

Consider getting a second opinion before you let someone put you on medicine that has the potential to make you feel awful and wreck your health. If your doctor's first reaction is medication, you might want to find a new one that's more in line with your goals.

I did ask my doctor. He says my LDL is way too high and wants to put me on statins. And niacin for the Lp(a).
