What should I have a friend bring me from the US?

Luckily I can find a lot of imported foods here, like coconut oil and decent chocolate. Last time a friend went to the states I had them bring back some stevia, which I use very rarely but does come in handy for baking/cocktail making/random instances.

Once again, someone offered to bring me back anything, and the only things that I could think of that America has are sassafras bark (which I've been needing to make rootbeer) and coconut flour.

I love to play around with food and use novel ingredients in home cooking. What else should I ask for that those of you outside of the US have wished you could get? What cool things do you state-siders buy that only recently showed up in stores?

Vitamins. Cheapest in the world and greatest value for price. For around $100 you can get supply for most important once for entire year (CoQ10, D3, Iodine, Mg powder, C powder, K2). For comparison, 12g of CoQ10 by Jarrow Formula costs in USA ~$25 in Serbia ~$150.

I just relocated to another over seas location and I'm still finding my way around here....so my list would now be:

canned coconut milk (they sell something here but I haven't quite figured out if its got fat or not....language barrier makes it hard to ask)

organic maple syrup, I found it once in a store (didnt buy it but haven't seen it since)

almond flour (found coconut flour and rice flour)

Coconut oil...they have but a tiny jar for what the size of a huge one costs

sour cream....no they do not have it ahhhhhh!!!!
so powdered butter milk to make my own!

those are the staples I'm focused on for now. I've made friends with the owners of a neighborhood natural store and they seemed interested in helping me out since I have so many allergies that limit me.

But if you are relying on people to bring you stuff, ask how much weight they can afford to bring you....50lbs for some international flights, others at 70 ...it adds up quickly!!

As I write this you do not mention the country you're living in, so we can't know what to suggest exactly. If that was Greece for example, my country, I'd ask for some coconut flour, Yogi Kombusha Decaf, and unrefined virgin coconut oil (almost impossible to find there). I would also ask for seeds for various vegetables that are not popular in Greece, like turnips, rutabaga, parsnips, kohlrabi etc. The problem is that none of these items are allowed in Greece I believe, because of various import & safety laws.

If you live in the Benelux region, you can mail order coconut flour from AmanVida:

http://www.amanvida.eu/cataloog/home.aspx

If it were me, I'd put in an order for Vietnamese cinnamon and a selection of spices from Penzeys.
