Is Carl Lewis's vegan diet contributing to his arthritis or reducing his healing?

I have great respect for Carl Lewis, like Steve Jobs, so I'm not trying to bash him!

According to wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Lewis

Carl Lewis adopted veganism in 1990. Since 1993, when he was just 32 years old he suffers from degenerative arthritis.

Of course overtraining is an issue, but what about inflammation from his food?

Conclusions drawn about Carl Lewis from a distance would be likewise supportive if he happened to be Paleo. N = 1 can be useful as a framework for one's personal explorations and experimentations. But when X = 1 is taken to refer to a particular individual whose lifestyle variables are set forth at a website like Wikipedia — the phrase "thin ice" comes to mind.

@Lady_Arwen, I don't think we can know this. And unless he is "vegan paleo" I think this question is off-topic.
