stainless steel lunch box

Hey all, im looking at buying some stainless steel tiffin lunch boxes for my children rather than the toxic crap that they have used in the past. I have seen a lot of info from sellers regarding the quality of their steel,(non leaching/nickel free/chinese) & i am now concerned, is it best i go for 18/18 steel or does it really matter that much? Im guessing a lot of it is sellers blurb but i am no steel expert, i don't want to buy something that is good for my children only to be doing them harm. Any info is greatly appreciated as always.

Yeah, it would be great if they had suppliers worldwide. The ones you got look nice though :)

The particular grade of stainless steel shouldn't make a bit of difference for this application. Most stainless steel (other than cookware that sees high temperatures) is 18-8 (304) which has 18% chromium and 8% nickel.

I've had my eye on Planet Boxes for a while, unfortunately i live in the U.K & it would likely cost the earth to ship them here! :( thanks for your input though barefooter.

I'm not sure about the quality of the steel, but we've been using PlanetBox and we love it! Easy to clean, easy to pack, big enough for kids' lunches, light weight and cool looking :) Check out their website for "quality" information.

My daughter has been using her Planet Box for two years now and it's great. When you add up the cost of all the other containers you'll wear through, lose, and throw away, it's not too bad. I expect that we'll be able to use ours for many years to come.

Hi Chris, I bought planet box and had them shipped to Australia. It wasn't too bad. I think the website estimates the cost before you finalist the order.

i just bought a new rice cooker because my trusty ones pot was not something i was comfortable using anymore. aluminum based pot with teflon coating . uggh..

anyway my new one, uses " surgical-grade 304 stainless steel. " Try to look for this quality if possible
