I think Kale makes me tired?

Has anyone ever felt that before? I think Kale makes me a little sleepy. I know folks with Thyroid issues should limit the brassicas, I have had thyroid issues in the past, but none now. I really want to be imagining it, because I LOVE kale. I don't think its the carb intake because I can eat the same amount of carbs in some other veggie and it doesn't do the same thing.

You could see it as a pointer that raw vegetables aren't all they are made up to be. http://www.librarything.com/work/8098334

I dont feel like its thyroid, cause I'm not all around tired, I just want to take a nap right after I eat it. I do it raw sometimes, and cooked, and juiced.

Unless you are eating a whole lot of raw kale I don't see why it would affect your thyroid. I thought cooking neutralized the problem with brassicas.

Hi Jasmine,

Here is some good info on goitrogens and cruciferous vegetables (which includes kale):

Yes, me too . A week ago I switched making my spinach salads with kale. And I notice I get extremely sleepy about half an hour after eating it! Sometimes I need to be productive after dinner so I'm switching back to spinach.

I cannot believe someone else has noticed this. Any time I eat Kale, I am a raw vegan, I get sleepy. I can eat it raw in a salad, juiced, or dehydrated in kale chips and have the same response. I LOVE kale. Is this a bad thing?
