Hack my Very tired eyes

I am told numerous times a day that I look really tired! My eyes have massive bags under them.

I get around 7 hours of sleep a night. Have been paleo for around 2 years now and have always had the issue.

I start work at 5am in the morning and finish around 12.

I eat paleo but have white rice added in. I take in around 2500 cals a day. 35% Protein. 40% fat and 25% carbs.

My omega 3/6 ratio is about 3:1 .. I have mackerel as my source.

I generally eat everything organically and have around 3 servings of veg per day (no nightshades)

I only eat the egg yolks and do so about 3 times per week.

I eat liver two times per week.

I have bone broth 2 times per day.

I'm not generally stressed, I am known to be very 'laid back'

SO what could it be? am I missing something.

The mackerel fillets I eat are about 5-6" inches long & canned in Portugal so i'm guessing the smaller variety. I love fish so going to try some herring & anchovies for sure, will pick some up tonight

Some species of mackerel are higher in mercury (the larger ones like King mackerel, not so much with the smaller Spanish, Atlantic, or Cero mackerels), but it still makes a great fish regardless and shouldn't be of concern unless you eat the larger species nearly everyday. Sardines, anchovies and herring usually have the least of all the fish since they are very small, and the smaller the fish, the less the mercury. Have you tried Kippered Herring (Kippered Snacks)? They're awesome, like a mix between fish and bacon. I get the ones with just water and salt, they're hard to beat.

That's my experience, it could very well be the cause of your tired eyes, I certainly had massive bags under my eyes when I was eating high protein, within days of cutting back I noticed I looked & felt better

oh right did not realize! I have around 130g daily .. so is that like 20% I think. Still do feel that I have too much protein, some say it makes you age if you eat too much.

I think you are mistaking mackerel (low in mercury, eats the same food as sardines) with jack mackerel (larger predator, accumulates mercury).

WILD sardines and wild alaskan salmon, along oysters are good, yes. But do sleep more.

You're eating about 177g of protein a day? (I eat 2500cal and the nutrient calculator i use makes out 35% of calories to be 177g protein)

That's way too much in my opinion, try cutting back & replace it with fat and see how you do would be my advice. I looked like crap eating 100-150g protein everyday, and i lacked energy & couldn't be arsed to workout, since cutting back i feel i have regained my former self, i look better, sleep better, exercise better.

I do wish i could eat that much protein everyday tho as its damn tasty!

If you eat liver twice a week, then your zinc is probably out of balance to copper (they're antagonists). Eat liver once a week, and replace the second time with oysters (canned are ok too). Mackerel is very high in mercury btw, prefer alaskan wild salmon. However, for the problem in question, I think that your circardian rhythms are out of sync because you wake up too early and you don't sleep enough. Obviously, 7 hours is not enough for you, up it to 8.5 hours and see how you go.

Are you just talking about their appearance, or do your eyes actually feel tired?

How old are you?
