Thyroid hormones should probably be considered food, considering that historically humans ate animals, and animals have thyroids.
However, I wouldn't think humans killed and ate thyroids every day, considering that in nature there are many disruptive events that would prevent them from having a regular killing schedule. Would supplementing somewhat irregularly, mimicking this speculation about the historical eating habits of humans be healthy?
