Graves and Paleo

My sister has advanced Graves disease and a naturopathic doctor put her on an anti-inflamm diet which doesn't allow red meat, eggs, dairy (and lots of other stuff).

She is still allowed quinoa and hemp etc, but it's basically a Candida protocol. Anyone have any research or experience treating this with a whole paleo model. She isn't currently getting much fat in her diet, which is a big part of the paleo lifestyle.

That's ridiculous, even paperwork from my hospital says Grave's needs to eat lots of meat, and that means a lot considering this hospital has a strong vegetarianism agenda.

That's what I thought, too. Which is why the restrictions confused me. She has never had an issue with eggs or dairy.

This conflicts with what my doctor did. I have an immune system disorder (not an autoimmune one though) and my doctor put me on an anti-inflamm diet...and that diet was Paleo. I don't eat eggs, dairy, or nighshades, but red meat is a major part of my diet. I thought Paleo IS an anti-inflammatory diet.

I am gonna go out on a limb and guess that your sister's doc is a vegetarian... Perhaps that would explain a certain, shall we say, bias against red meat?

The dr is mistaken and sounds a bit woo. I would disregard.
