I've been paleo for a little under a year, in the past few months, I realize that my libido is extremely high.Does this have something to do with the diet?

@Richard: I eat saturated fat a lot and fist time in my life I crave for carbs. When I upped protein a lot it diminished but its not sustainable for me. So I just eat some more chocolate, banana, potato or such.

Oysters are high in cholesterol and anecdotally I personally definitely notice it, especially September through November. It is not just a myth.

..also Travis the beef liver is a recent addition to my diet. I started rendering animal fat in 2000 and my testosterone level jumped not too long after that.

One interesting thing that I've read and experience is that eating lots of saturated fats appears to eliminates cravings for carbohydrates. I almost never think about eating grains or sweets.

I wonder if the addition of beef liver coincided with the increase in testosterone? Perhaps a micronutrient deficiency was addressed....

I guess the "low carb lowers testosterone level" doesn't really hold water.

Beef stew or cooked in tomatoes, chicken, beef liver, steamed vegetables, coconut oil, raw butter, pastured eggs, black beans (cooked with lots of tallow or lard), lots of cream on berries with almonds or walnuts , home made raw chocolate sweetened with stevia

Zinc, magnesium, and cholesterol laden foods. The other big issue is high cortisol levels that lead to pregnenolone steal syndrome which put downward pressure on testosterone and vitamin D levels

Yup, I noticed this, too. My wife thinks this is an awesome "side effect"... so she is very supportive of me sticking to Paleo.

How don't see how getting a test will tell him if his higher libido has something to do with his diet.

Since testosterone is derived from cholesterol eating more cholesterol will raise testosterone levels. Mine went from 220ng/dl to over 800ng/dl after adding a daily intake of home rendered lard and beef tallow to my diet.

Absolutely.  The proof came with my hormones becoming alarmingly skewed, post testosterone replacement therepy.  My libido, strength and well being returned almost double of that before TRT just being on strict paleo alone.  Good cholesterol is the precursor to testosterone, so essentially egg yolk is almost a natural healthy steroid.

I raised testosterone quickly taking celadrin capsules. Celadrin is Beef Tallow but is absorbes much better into the body.

go get tested. You need to get a free and total T done DHT and E2 level. This will tell you the deal. Paleo eating does help increase male sex steroid production especially if you supplement certain things not high in the American food chain. Libido is tied to your free T levels but very variable among men.
