Sorry if this is inappropiate, I assume it will be deleted if so.

A study found that after ej***tion, and abstaining there after, serum testosterone was increased %146 on the 7th day.

Have you noticed any benefits in temporary abstinence with working out or anything else?

Yea I hear athletes in training refrain from sex to train better, but maybe this has do with more concentration on training then from the distraction

I was just playing the safe card; I know there are teenagers on here and maybe some of those are minors. Idk about you but yea in public I'm uncomfortable saying that around minors buddy

Thanks! I saw the evil effects of porn in my teenage students. I wish I knew then what I know now...

The *'s are unnecessary. If you're uncomfortable reading the words masturbation and ejaculation you probably need to reevaluate some shit.

For some other thoughts on abstinence check out this Ted talk by Gary Wilson "The Great Porn Experience" and his website (that Stephen also linked) Your Brain On Porn.

To summarize, there may be no physical effect from abstaining from masturbation itself but avoiding porn could do a lot of good. This good would not be measured by direct impact on blood testosterone levels but instead by how well the brain's neurotransmitter systems are working.

Thanks for that article. I always was under the impression masturbating increase testosterone. No wonder I have been having muscle loss lately. Too much stabbing the trout

It goes both ways I've been led to understand. Ejaculating too often can decrease test, but so can not ejaculating often enough.

Just some info I picked up over the years, I'm sure I read it somewhere...

It reflects Ayurvedic practice.

I used to buy this. But this is likely just your brain calling satiety. Saying you just spread your seed so you can chill for a second while it rebuilds. This link covers the study you cite, along with many many others: http://www.yourbrainonporn.com/book/export/html/148 .

I call buffallo excrement. Seems to be more of the same puritan common sense nonsense to me.

As long as you get the proper building blocks to make testosterone, including lots of fats, minerals, and aren't doing it 8x a day, you'll rebuild it, and then some.

I'm not sure about this article, but my n=1 shows that abstention can have clear mental and emotional benefits.

Having a little bit more testosterone for a few hours a week is not going to be worth the effort of planning your life around unless you're a professional athlete with the potential to earn a multi-million dollar contract. A beginner's dosage of injectable testosterone is 400-500mg/wk for 12 weeks, which is around 7x the high end and 21x the low end of natural testosterone levels. Having 1-2x as much testosterone for a couple of hours isn't going to make any noticeable difference.
