Dr. K or anyone know a good endocrinologist in Orange County Area, California or how to find one?

Would like to sort out my low testosterone and insomnia issues. 21 year old male, been paleo ish for about a year but with things like lots of raw milk or other paleo grey areas. Cutting dairy out and focusing on just meats, a few starches, and loads of animal fats, sleep, heavy lifting, cortisol and stress reduction and hopefully master my sleep... but in the mean time I would like an endo to take a crack at my labs. Anyone know a good one in the Orange CA area or how to find one? Is there like a yelp for doctors?

Dr. Ullis is very open-minded and will work with you on pretty much any program.

Santa Monica may be a drive, but http://www.drkarlisullis.com/Karlis_Ullis,_M.D./Welcome.html is worth it.

Be careful in your search for a "good endocrinologist." You might want to consider a physician with a strong emphasis in how lifestyle (diet, exercise, stress) influence hormones. Not necessarily the same as an endocrine specialist, of the mainstream medical kind anyhow.

If it doesn't matter that the endo be an MD, in Costa Mesa is a chiropractor who is trained in Functional Medicine, Functional Endocrinology, Functional Neurology, and Functional Nutrition and he is very much into paleo. Chiropractic is only about 5% of his total cases. He does testing that gets to root causes, unlike many MDs I've seen. They just throw pills at symptoms. Can you keep us posted? There are many on the board with similar issues who would benefit from any insights you find.

Have you been tested for sleep apnea? Even lean people can have it and it can lower test.

You might try calling St. Joseph's Hospital in OC and asking them for a referral for an endocrinologist on their staff. They will give you names of Docs who have privileges there. It's had a well earned, excellent reputation for a loooooooong time and they will be happy to give you referrals.
