Too Much Green/White Tea?

I am hoping for an answer beyond "Too much of anything is bad"...

I tend to drink quite a bit of green/white tea (I put in 2 bags, one white, one green) from about 8am-12pm. I like to stop at noon as to not have caffeine in the afternoon to aid with sleep. When I say "quite a bit", that can be up to four 16-24oz mugs (which would be 8 total tea bags).

For my morning diet: I usually either eat a huge breakfast if I go to the gym in the morning or just go until dinner without food if I don't work out. I like the tea too because it helps to boost metabolism a bit and aids with weight loss.

Could there be any downside to drinking this much tea? Risks? Thanks!

LOL my bad. I tend to use the terminology in the scientific papers I read. Basically the tea plant soaks up more fluoride from acidic soils than most other plants and it ends up in the steeped tea you make. That can interfere with normal remineralization of teeth and bone or it could affect your thyroid since fluoride is structured in a similar way as iodide.

If you have low blood pressure, it will get even lower.

Well, it'd be substantially more fluoride than you would otherwise consume over an extended period of time, even with white tea. It may not be enough to produce fluorosis, but it may interfere with the kinetics of iodide, another halogen.

Mice that drank only green tea lived longer in this study.

Now, you're not a mouse, but I think it's perfectly fine to drink as much tea as you do.

Just get organic tea not grown in china and the Flouride won't be a problem.

8 teabags isn't all that much. If you're fine with the caffeine content, I don't see any reason to worry.

A teabag generally contains 1.3-2g of tea. Times 8 = 10-15g of tea, more or less. If you were brewing loose tea, that's about four cups of tea per day. Perfectly normal, I'd say.

(I assume you're drinking just tea, no sugar, no honey, no nothing).
