Earl grey tea nomnomnom

I am really addicted to my earl gray. I drink around 20 cups a day, black, no sugar.

The empire was founded on tea and so is my capacity to function.

Is there any ramifications from such large amounts of consumption? I changed over from the yanks favorite brew because I was worried about adrenal fatigue. Now tea has become my new coffee.

The tea plant itself has an affinity to absorb fluoride. Filtering your water with a Reverse Osmosis filter gets rid of the added fluoride that your water company adds, but not the fluoride in the tea itself. Apparently you can use tamarind to chelate fluoride from your body: http://www.nature.com/ejcn/journal/v56/n1/full/1601287a.html

Out of curiosity - would this apply to brew-water filtered to 95-99% of fluoride?

This GU does have a tendency to be a rude asshat, but I haven't seen him crazy the way BB usually is. That means little, though.

You could get the extract here: http://www.amazon.com/Pure-Bergamot-Extract-Ounce-Bottle/dp/B004Y1OJA8 or better yet, just use orange peel or zest to make it like this: http://www.thekitchn.com/diy-earl-grey-tea-for-earl-grey-tea-haters-and-lovers-too-183012 - I haven't been able to find out how the extract is made, if not from the rind of bergamot oranges.

It was better than 8 dounle espressos a day. This is a continuing scaling down process. Hopefully I will be down to non moronic intake soon haha.

Also, the caffeine in tea is the same chemical as the caffeine in coffee, so if you're guzzling tea until you get the same stimulant effect, you're not protecting yourself from anything.

Have you examined why you require such a tremendous quantity of herbal stimulant in order to function? This may be a sign of ADHD or another disorder that would be more effectively treated with a long-acting stimulant medication.

well for example today I have only had 7. However sometimes I will use my mammoth teapot and brew about 3 bags into one big cup because I need something with a strong taste to replace my old coffee addiction.This is when the ammount starts ramping up.

Is this an exaggeration? I highly doubt you are drinking 160 oz of earl grey a day, but if so, then you are spending way too much time in front of the urinal.

I'd be worried about your fluoride intake, which as you might know is a neurotoxin. Tea plants tend to love absorbing fluoride.

Sure, a cup or two a day for the win, but 20 is for teh fail.

I have just came across a study where both tea and coffee appear to help digestion.

I don't really know, but they have been around for thousands of years.

One thing I don't understand - how do they add bergamot flavoring to Earl Gray? If it is an artificial processed oil, nothing more than an additive, then I would not make it a regular treat.

But I don't really know.

The concern I'd have that isn't addressed above is that the oil of bergamot that flavors Earl Grey tea can make you more photosensitive. At that quantity I'd worry about sunburn risk. Having been made more photosensitive in the past by another plant chemical, I can tell you it isn't pleasant at all.
