The other muscle meat

At the moment I'm eating mostly muscle meat (hamburgers and sausages) and (shell)fish + organ meats weekly (liver, kidney and heart)

But since heart is muscle meat too, would it be a bad idea to replace the other muscle meat by heart alone? I know it's best to consume "the whole animal" but I'd like to hear some other arguments why I shouldn't.

EDIT: So I can conclude that eating approximately 1kg of heart per week is not bad, stand alone worse than the "normal" muscle meat?

Right on, Danny. Just go to the meat section and check out how cheap some of the organ meats are. Liver, tripe, kidneys. If you're poor, by all means, eat liver.

Personally I'm on the "muscle meat is over-priced" train.

Folks need to get off the "muscle meat is suboptimal" train.

I'm eating a lot of organic grass fed veal heart too, and cant stress ou good is it. Actually, i've set aside some and made heart jerky, which is AWSOME.

Nutrition-wise, i belive it is better than the traditional muscle meat, just compare it from fitday, PaleoTrack or other. From a buget standpoint, i can buy almost 8 pounds of heart for the price of 2 pounds of sirloin or top side grass fed too. you cant go wrong on that.

Cheers

I can imagine potential problems if that was all you ate, but if you're mixing it up with organs and shellfish still then the main downside I see is the hassle of butchering that many hearts!

I'm not sure I understand the question....do you not like the other organs? If not but you're eating a variety of other meats, vegetables and fruits and fats then I think you're golden. Eat what you like (within the realm of paleo foods obviously), what makes you feel good. We eat a a lot of beef heart....it's yummy and nutritious and you can use it in many different ways. Not sure what the argument would be against it.
