Who doesn't tolerate tallow?

Hi folks,

is there anybody out there, who can't tolerate beef tallow?

And if yes, what do you think is the underlying cause?

(Supposed other fats aren't a problem)

I heard of beef allergies due to a tick bite, or a cross reaction to milk protein. Although, those proteins should be destroyed during tallow preparation.

Any experiences would be a great help,

thanks!

Milk and beef share some proteins (BSA and BGG), but those should be heat labile. Actually, I don't know if I have problems with beef and I thought it would be a good idea to start with tallow first, as it is heated quite a while. Now I seem to react.. but shouldn't the temperature have destroyed the protein... difficult

Are you allergic to the corresponding animal as well? And did you survive the most recent test? :-)

Why would beef tallow (rendered beef fat) have milk proteins in it? Only milk or dairy products should have milk proteins (casein and whey). Am I missing something here? (I admit to sometimes being a Nerdlinger McStupid.)

Some peple have allergic (or other) reactions to beef, but if you can eat beef, I cannot for the life of me see why you wouldn't be able to tolerate tallow. Conversely, I would expect that a person who has a problem with beef to possibly also have a problem with tallow.
