Confused about lipase deficiency

I have an on again/off again condition called Steatorrhea which means too much fat shows up in my stool, so I take digestive enzymes with extra Lipase. My question is, I've been on the Paleo and Atkins Diets before and have lost loads of weight, but wouldn't these diets be detrimental to me since my body has a problem breaking down fats?

How does eating more fat make more lipase?

Terry, I am in agreement and I don't think my gastroenterologist is addressing the problem by just having me take lipase enzymes. After taking lipase enzymes for a year, I asked him if I should be on a low fat diet and he said no, I need fats for my brain. I believe I need to eat more fat also. Perhaps coconut oil rather than animal fats, as c/o doesn't have to go through liposis?

Eating more fat should help you make more lipase eventually.
