Has anyone dealt with a varicocele? Surgery? Treatment?

Disagree. It's about health and body function. It's no less Paleo than someone asking questions about pooping an entire kale leaf.

I'm a girl, so I've never "dealt" with a varicocele. However, I did work as a diagnostic medical sonographer for 14 years and have performed more scrotal sonograms than I care to think about.

A varicocele is the most common cause of male infertility. Its basically a varicose vein in the vein that takes blood away from the testicle.

As balor said, the corrective surgery is outpatient and relatively simple. And not nearly as dramatic as you would imagine (although I'm sure you could milk the sympathy). I've never heard of correcting it through diet or any means other than surgery.

I would strongly urge you to not mess around and just go ahead and get it taken care of...especially if you have any inkling of desire to breed in the future.

Only the varicocele can reappear swiftly after the operation. It can also grow, veins can become bigger and more tense, and the guy can be left with both the cut-off vein and new thick veins in the scrotum.

It may be just one problem in a weakened body. And has to be addressed as a part of the question.

I don't think this is really a paleo-related question. But I had/have one. It's not harming function so I just ignore it and get an ultrasound every few years.

I had one as well. You might be able to referse it with diet but no studies. Need a very high antioxidant diet to strengthen veins, though not clear if valves will ever repair. Causes programmed cell death so watch the fertility. I had mine treared with surgery.since 8t was painful and affecting fertility. Its outpatient and takss about 2 weeks to heal. Incsion is surprisngoy not in a scary location. Suspected to be caued by oxisative stress. Hope this helps.
