Mushroom supplements?

I love mushrooms, however, they gives me a bad reaction (bloating, gas etc...) I only tried three varieties: the common ones you buy in stores: chitake, the while ones, and another type, the name escapes me now.

Do you guys recommend I take a mushroom pill? like this one: http://www.swansonvitamins.com/swanson-premium-full-spectrum-14-mushroom-complex-60-veg-caps

Will the side effects go away if I take a pill instead of the real food?

Dan- I looked up their company and it looks fairly decent. However in the mushroom world , i guess im a bit biased, stamets is the king of fungi to me. Following stamets work for years and knowing the quality control he has is very reassuring to me. His more rarer strains (agarikon) are also a testament to his passion, for hunting out the true fungal treasures this world has to offer and preserving them.

Jake, its a bit more complicated than simply throwing a natural remedy at you, especially homeopathically. Depends on the symptomps and severity too. However, I believe cordyceps would be beneficial in this case. Funny enough i just found a website that supports my claim!! http://www.livestrong.com/article/518116-cordyceps-for-adrenal-fatigue/ I can advise you more on dosage if you desire.

Tal, have you compared Stamets' mushrooms with Mushroom Science's medicinal mushrooms? I've had great results with their Chaga, Reishi, and especially their Lion's Mane. That stuff really does improve my memory and clarity of thought.

as an amateur naturopath i have been supplementing with medicinal mushrooms for years. The main ones i have been consuming are: Reishi, Cordyceps and Agarikon. I source them from fungiperfecti, which is founded by paul stamets the leading authority on mycomedicinal and mushrooms in general worldwide. I dont work for them or anything but i find their products SUPERIOR in all respects. The benefits of my particular blend are numerous.. and are easily researched if you are interested.

However to answer your question, some people have had reduced bloating from supplementing, only way to find out is to try it! id say it will be less (perhaps) as you are taking a smaller amount of dry mycelium.

The source of the mushrooms are very key in regards to the benefits they will give to you..

In good health!!
