And how do you deal with them? Do you have something sugary that's high quality or...?

Sounds interesting, I've done a blood test like that but not one specifically for insulin, I'll find out more from my doctor, thank you :-)

fasting means you do not eat anything after 8:30 PM the night before and take the blood test in the morning. You can still drink water at night if you need to. After the first blood test eat your breakfast and then in two hours take another blood test. My doctor told me it is better than taking a glucose tolerance test. Make sure to have some carbs for breakfast.

How long would you fast for it to be effective?

So is there a reason you eat potatoes for the cravings?

After almost two years of very little sweet foods I don't crave any sugar at all. Once you get over the hump it gets much easier.

Every now and then I will get into a place where even though I eat enough of the right stuff I still want a stupid snack after a meal...peanuts, peanut butter cups, ice cream etc. Hate that when that happens - would like to be over any craving whatsoever but don't think it possible.

I used to have HORRIBLE sugar cravings. Was diagnosed with hyperinsulinemia and put on metformin. No sugar cravings whatsoever. Check your insulin and BG levels while fasting and 2 hours after your meal.

Yes! I just eat potatoes when this happens. When I'm really stressed I can't help but hit the ice cream.

At first I though It might of been a gut problem. I made my own sauerkraut...didn't really help. I'm convinced I have other problems.
