21 sugar detox - carrots and beets

Hello, after having done extensive research on the internet, I'm still confused with regards to whether beets and carrots are good choice while doing 21 day sugar detox. These two seem to be present in many 21 day detox recipes, but aren't they high in sugar content?

Carrots have more starch than beets (more than zero, anyways), but both have ample fiber. If you are diabetic, it is important to know the ramifications of eating carbohydrates, but if you are fit and active, think of carrots and beets as "carbs" or "sugar" rather than "a root vegetable" is kind of silly. However, if you are doing (as OP suggested) a limited restricted diet, there's really no harm skipping carrots and beets for 3 weeks.

Of the 2, the beets I ate yesterday tasted suspiciously sweet. Not to mention the bright red pee that startled me last night. :-))

When you're in a temporarily restricted situation, I'm with greymouser and would just skip both. Otherwise, I treat beets as an occasional favorite but I eat both raw and cooked carrots fairly frequently.

They are considered to be high in sugar content but the vitamins and such make a bit of a difference. From what I was told by one nutritionist if trying to get sugar under control avoid both for at least two weeks but after that the carrots do offer ample vitamins that are needed for the detox process. Another nutritionist told me that it was only carrots to avoid and that the rest of the make-up of beets made them not just ok but really good even from the start of a detox. Meanwhile from what I have read it is just confusing - I think it depends on what else you are having with it - ie low sugar/low glycemic foods or others that may have higher levels.
