Anyone use any of these grease traps?

I'm looking for something simple that I can pour bacon grease into to strain and store it for future use. I found these:

Any recommendations? Any others I should consider?

Also, I've read here that bacon grease should be stored in air tight container in fridge to prevent it from going rancid. Is that true? I thought going rancid was a function of temperature and time. If you're going to fry it with it (high temp), it seems that would be much more likely to cause rancidity than storing at room temp?

I think we have the one in your second link; I got it because our daily bacon consumption required something fairly substantial to store the grease. It sits on a counter (in Colorado), we use the grease regularly to cook with, and it doesn't seem to get rancid.

The strainer insert isn't all that helpful; ours gets clogged up pretty regularly and the holes aren't always smaller than the bacon bits in the grease. You might as well just use a decent sized jar.

I store mine in a mason jar with a lid on the counter. I have never had a problem with rancidity. When I need to strain it, I use a mesh strainer. Out of sheer laziness, I rarely strain it.

I use a mason jar that used to be a spaghetti sauce jar. I've got several months worth of grease saved, I don't strain it, and I keep it on the kitchen counter. I've never had to throw any away. I also live in Florida so the temperature inside is usually 75-80 degrees.

We simply drain ours into a small ceramic bowl & put it in the fridge. My husband is a chef & has never thrown out any bacon grease due to rancidity.
