So I have been miserable for a year suffering with bloating, food allergies, yeast, and sibo. Wed I finally got a colonscopy that I've been putting off for many months. I have had burnin almost every day from food for a few weeks leading up to this. I've had cat scans, imaging, nothing was looking wrong. I have been on candida, paleo, and gaps diet. I'm extremely skinny. Anyway, today is Sunday and my stomach extension has decreased a ton. I even ate gluten free pancakes twice, rice, chips and cheese salsa because I wanted to eat some food. I still feel ok. I feel my yeast is under control because nystatin killed it off for the most part. My gi dr said he cleaned out a lot of crap, literally and toxins from my colon. I have a longer colon that's the only thing he found. Question is can him cleaning me out actually make me feeling back to how I was before? I have more energy, and just feel full after eating pancakes and my other crap I ate. Which will be only treats for me occasionally. He said the bacteria was stuck in my colon because I wasn't getting proper elimination and toxins of overeating were there. I used to eat everything and anything. Has anyone had something similar? Thanks. I'm feeling happy for the first time in a year but nervous it's gonna come back....

This isn't how my colonoscopy was done. My dr. prescribed a purgative to empty my GI tract the day before. The colon has to be empty and clean before you can be scoped, and it's very odd that a doctor would act as the poop-miner. His time is way more valuable than that.
The purpose of a colonoscopy is not to hunt for toxins and stuck bacteria but to look for cancerous polyps. Colon cancer is the major health concern, and is the reason why a colonoscopy is a preventative check-up in health plans for people over 50.
The purgative prep flushes out everything in the GI. I had no problems with digestion before or after. If you had problems before, maybe there was some benefit from clearing out unhelpful gut flora.

Here is something for you to try. Go to your local grocery store and buy the greenest bananas they have, also buy a bunch of green plantains.
Every day, eat 2 green bananas. They have to have some green on them! the greener the better.
Take the plantains, slice them in half, then slice each half in half long-ways. Peel them, and cut the 4 pieces in half again long-ways. You will end up with 8 tongue shapes pieces if you did it right. Salt these pieces heavily and lay them in the hot sun or in front of a fan on a cookie sheet or screen of some sort.
Eat 1-3 pieces of dried plantain every day.
Next, buy a bag of unmodified potato starch. Bob's Red Mill sells it on Amazon or their website, and you can find it in healthfood stores or larger supermarkets. It's cheap.
Put 1-2TBS of this in a smoothie, a glass of water or milk, or mix in yogurt, every day.
Doing all this will supply resistant starch, a powerful prebiotic, to your colon. It will feed the beneficial bacteria (probiotics) and allow them to thrive.
Bottom line, resistant starch in the foods I've mentioned will keep your guts healthy without stool bulking agents found in most prebiotic fiber sources.

I mean, sometimes it can feel good to get all cleaned out when you have been feeling terrible for so long with the stuff inside of you.
if it helped, that's great. hopefully you can get back to normal again. definitely eat some probiotic foods or take probiotics so you don't get an overgrowth of bad bacteria.
