Ab/Core/Stomach Tightening?

I have a question regarding something I've noticed since beginning Paleo. I'm on day 7 and have followed the diet with no cheating.

Did anyone else notice improvement in core strength without exercise during paleo? Okay, let me re-phrase as that sounds ridiculous. What I'm getting at is... the past two days I've noticed that my stomach feels flexed most of the time (not my usual style)... it feels tight. Not in a bad way, it actually feels like I'm fit- as if I'm exercising constantly throughout the day. It's mainly my upper ab/stomach area. I'm pretty stoked about this change it as long as it's not a warning sign of something wrong. I wonder if it's a muscle or something going on my with guts. I wish I could better explain it and I hope no one is too harsh with me for asking a question that may seem silly. I just can't overlook it. I have an 11 month old son and I've never really gotten my belly back together since birth. I feel as if these core muscles have been 'activated' in some way and find it strange because I haven't done any exercise. I walk often with my son and run a couple days a week- but that's not anything new. Since beginning Paleo I've only ran once as I don't want to overwork myself until I'm confident with my menu plan/energy levels etc. Just curious if there is an explanation for this!

Oh, and my energy levels are stable for the first time in my life! I feel like my head is clear...my eyes feel..."open"... LOL. Loving it!!! Was NOT expecting results so quickly! Thanks for being so helpful everyone!

Glad to hear you're having improvements!

Personally, I think my abs did strengthen pretty well on their own with a higher-protein, lower-carb diet (I'm not dogmatically "paleo" but I follow a good majority of the guidelines) without much exercise. I still have subcutaneous abdominal fat covering it that will never go away, so I'm not visibly ripped, but anyone who pokes my midsection is met with a surprising amount of resistance. I do tend to feel pretty "tight" and "flexed" on a normal basis, which was not the norm during my semi-vegetarian days.

I haven't experienced a feeling of tightening muscles so hopefully someone can help you out with that! What I did notice right away was that I didn't "feel fat". I would look down and wonder how I had my belly when it didn't feel like it should be there. :) I attribute that to not having as much gas/bloating because I am eating better. Maybe what you are experiencing is something similar?

I think that the bloating in your stomach is going down so your stomach will look and feel flatter very quickly, yes this is normal..listen to how happy the rest of you is..you are on the right track..it is shocking..I know..I wish I had started this much sooner. It took 11 years to finally lose the baby weight..lol...keep on keeping on..and keep asking question

Thoughts -

Decrease in bloating?

Loss of body-fat leading to better posture?

Increase in dopamine from more protein causing better muscle tone. Low dopamine can cause, if I remember correctly, hypotonia.
