Help with upset stomach/Diarrhea

Hello, I am experiencing some stomach problems and having diarrhea all night, I am going to my doctor today, but I also think that I am not sure what to eat and yesterday didn't help.

I ate my normal paleo protein and fats and a little fruit (which i shouldn't apparently)

I am staying with my dad visiting, and he keeps trying desperately hard to make me oatmeal and serve me rye bread, but won't that just hurt my guts more if i've been 100% Paleo for a long time now?

I don't know what to eat that won't irritate the problem or what to eat to soothe and satiate.

Yesterday I felt hungry and dehydrated all day...I made soup from scratch but it just wasn't enough?

What should I eat?

I second on kefir. But it has to be home-made to have full effect, the bottled version doesn't contain yeasts.

Yes, like 10 of them. Here they are usually packed as 10. If you have large bottle obviously don't take all. Few billions bacteria found in single pearl aint gonna help.

  • Buy some probiotics and take them all at once.
  • Kefir or probiotic yougurt might help
  • Banana or rice might be good choice to eat.
  • Keep hydrated - chicken soup is good choice
  • Use supplements since you can't eat to prevent nourishment.

I would also go with the broth, and remind yourself that these foods are real problems, and it might take a couple of days for your system to right itself. I know that when we eat wheat or two much fruit, we just have to wait for everything to settle down and there really aren't many short-cuts.

I've been there more times than I can count. Heres what works for me....

Bananas and home made applesauce

Potatoes in any form

Home made chicken broth, if needed add some carrots and potatoes or pumkin for substance

Decaf teas or some mint in hot water is calming

I personally can't eat rice, it causes me more digestive distress, especially when under distress. Same with probiotics-and if you aren't use to probiotics I don't recommend them for right now either (at least only in small doses)

Stay away from dairy, reduce fats for now.

How many days now?? Add sone salt and pinch sugar in water if you are getting dehydrated. This is something you want to avoid all together/dehydration.

Can you take a bit of immodium? Might just settle things down, sometimes you get cleaned out but your system is just stuck on emptying you out.

Feel better!!!

So make a bigger soup! I take a meaty soup to work every day.

NMD told us coconut water doesn't have enough electrolytes? That Pedialyte is better?

I'd get some coconut water for electrolytes (I used to have it a lot in green smoothies with spinach, banana and a little pineapple), pumpkin & banana are supposed to be helpful with diarrhea, I also echo the broth recommendations.
