So I sprained my hip last night when I was doing a Muay Thai style workout at a gym. When I was in high school as a sprinter in track, I sprained my other hip. During that time it took WEEKS to heal, probably because I put off treatment thinking the pain would go away by itself but the physical therapist at the school also had me doing bike workouts everyday. Now I'm reading online that it's best to just not exercise at all and it will heal in 2-3 days. People also suggest stretching but I'm afraid of stretching without warming up... any thoughts?

Sprains usually do best with alternating applications of ice and heat - 20 minutes each. I'd do that for a few days and then slowly exercise if you feel it getting better. I know that with back issues if I stayed inactive it took longer to heal then getting up and moving around gently. ICE is the best inflammation reducer.
